Hirsch & Company Consulting Engineers provided consultant services to the City Metropolitan Wastewater Department for CCTV televising and assessment of the Sorrento Mesa Trunk Sewer. Affordable Pipeline Services was mobilized to perform the televising of the remote sewer system. This trunk sewer runs along the Los Penasquitos Canyon Creek in a remote, vehicle inaccessible, environmentally sensitive canyon. The trunk sewer typically flows full with surcharged manholes along the line. Bypass pumping was needed to divert flow so that the inspection could be completed. The trunk sewer serves an industrial area, so the window for the work was a single weekend while most of the businesses were closed. Affordable Pipeline Services mobilized four inspection crews to different locations along the trunk sewer using handheld equipment and stretching cable from truck mounted equipment down the canyon for several hundred feet.
